Community Outreach

Works as the liaison between PTA Council and other Wilton organizations that focus on issues that affect school age children, their families, and the staff of our schools.  Sits on the boards of some of these groups like Vision 2020.   Is the conduit of information to PTA Council from these other organizations.   Works with VP Programs and President of PTA Council to identify programs that PTA Council can underwrite and/or support individually or in conjunction with other organizations like The Women's Club, WEF, Vision 2020, The Wilton Garden Club, etc.

Cultural Arts

At the start of the year, reviews the Cultural Arts letter and arranges for printing of letters and envelopes.  Contact BOE for list of school families and print labels.  At the October meeting, entire board helps with applying labels to envelopes and stuffing with the letter.   The Cultural Arts chairperson contacts Rusty Hurd, FAPA Chairperson, each month to learn of FAPA approved or pending grant requests.  The chairperson presents FAPA approved grants to the Council for a vote.  Upon approval, a letter is written to inform the teachers of the approved grant as well as confirms with Rusty and follows-up on any issues related to the grant.

Lost and Found

A bin is maintained at the bus terminal for items left on buses by students.  Send messages to be included in each school newsletter, reminding parents of the location of this Lost and Found bin.  Approximately every two months, collect all items from the bins and launder.  Items with names can be returned to the front office of each school with the name of the child attached for ease of delivery.  All items without names can be delivered to The Turnover Shop, in season.

Reflections

This job coordinates the five schools from kick-off to bringing the winners to Hamden.  You must work with all the people to have everything hung in the Library or Clune Center, obtain judges, have a lunch, small gifts for the judges, hold a reception for all participants, arrange for press coverage and ribbons for all.

The second part is to host a reception for the FAPA Show (Faculty Show) in May.
